I have avoided the film Changeling for a long time. Maybe it was partly because the dreary natural lighting made me think the film would be dreary too. Without doubt it was because of the title. For some reason ‘changeling’ evokes an alien sensation with me. Almost as if there would be an actual shape-shifting alien in the film. I knew this wasn’t true of course, but I still avoided the film.

I just finished watching it and have to say it was great. I was happy that my doubts had been proven wrong, although until the credits I thought that was all that had happened. Up until the words ‘Clint Eastwood,’ that is.

As soon as I saw that name everything clicked. If I had known he was the director, I would have watched it as soon as I got the chance.

Be Kind Rewind was a pretty good film. I love the concept and I loved the production. The execution was a bit flawed though. It could have been a lot funnier and I was pretty disappointed when I saw it (I had been hyping it up a lot in my mind though). Still, I love the concept, and concept is very important for me. Six and a half out of ten, but it’s still one of my favourite films.

Definitely when the miniature models deflate the tyres of the bad guys’ van, and the camera alternates between a medium shot of the models and then a full shot of the van.

Cracks me up. Wish I could find a good video clip of it.

Quite good for an Australian film.
